HOW DOES IT WORK?
Scouting is a FAMILY activity, so it begins with you! But there is a tried and true structure of program activities that all Packs follow to ensure the program is age appropriate and everyone has fun. Watch this video for a basic overview.
The "DO YOUR BEST" motto offers that encouragement when trying something new for the first time. We also abide by the Scout Oath and Scout Law in everything we do. But check out these reasons some of our local families have embraced scouting.
We work in partnership with the BSA (grades 6 - age 18) Troops through the Den Chief leadership opportunity as well as blended activities. 4th & 5th graders are given opportunities to camp with a BSA Troop at Apple Harvest and encouraged to visit a Troop prior to bridging at the Blue and Gold celebration.

What Makes Pack 77 Different?
Since all Packs follow the same basic structure, the differences are somewhat subtle. Meeting times will vary and are a frequent reason you might need to look elsewhere. Charter Organizations can include schools, churches, or other groups and may influence the chosen electives with the program and why people may be drawn to a particular pack.
There's no rule that says MVES Students must join Pack 77 or that you must be a MVES Student to join our Pack. However, we all think there's something special about continuing to develop the amazing relationships with have with our immediate neighbors. Our pack is one of the few that holds a annual raingutter regatta and we anticipate we'll be the first to award a local Cub Scout with an interpreter strip in the next couple years.
Our Cubmaster is no stranger to Scouting. She was an active Girl Scout for over 20 years as a scout and a volunteer leader before moving to Charlottesville in 2003. This means she's got lots of singing, crafting, camping, and general Scouting know-how. When the first of her three boys was old enough, she jumped into the BSA ranks with both feet!
