SPACE DERBY

Ready, set, JET!  
We held our first Space Derby on December 13, 2020 when COVID-19 precautions caused a rework of the annual Raingutter Regatta... and forced a staggered race to limit group sizes.

With special thanks to BSA Troop 1029, three groups divided by den were held throughout the day with additional spectators joining online to watch the action.  Each den competed for 1st - 3rd place medals which were awarded after 4 heats for each group.  The 6 den winners raced once more for the trophy in a head to head elimination.  Watch out for flying carrots!

The creativity of our Scouts was impressive as they worked with their families to create these ships to not just go far and fast, but be considered as a contender for the coveted "Fan Favorite" announced at the virtual Pack Meeting.

The weather couldn't have been better as our shuttles were sent racing down the 40' track between a barn and the outdoors.  Even though all the lessons learned as we embarked on this journey meant some extra down time, fun was had by everyone!
